LCAG Visit to Deploy

(l to r) Claudia Simms, Sasha Kier, Alison Gowman and Tosin Trim

LCAG’s website attracts many people and I was never more grateful than to hear from Claudia Simms of Deploy about their business – described as:

“a British Sustainable Luxury Fashion Brand in City Road, Islington. Founded as a strategic action plan to reform the fashion industry back in 2006, we now have clients in key cities around the world. We are one of the highest rated B Corps globally with a score of 149.5 and invest our time heavily in sharing our knowledge and successful case study with institutions and corporate partners around the world including Harvard Business School, London Business School and UBS.”

It was therefore with some excitement that, accompanied by LCAG supporter Sasha Keir (a member of the Basketmakers Livery and a theatrical costume designer), we met Claudia Simms and Tosin Trim at Deploy’s showroom on City Road.

It proved to be all that it was said to be and more. Claudia and Sasha quickly found common ground around professionalism, training and resourcing materials. They are both highly qualified and experts in the textile and clothing industry.

Deploy is a B-Corp (an external assessment of a business’s entire impact across Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers). Deploy’s scores make it a global top 10 highest scoring fashion brand and in the top 30 highest scoring across all sectors, contributing to 12 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This is in the context of a fashion industry that is not necessarily known for its sustainable credentials. It was this drive that impressed me as the business spends a lot of time talking about these issues at external events across the World. Their wheel of sustainability shows the details of each area that they embrace to create a sustainable whole.

They are planning to arrange more seminars and workshops, and this will be attractive not only to possible customers but also to showcase how businesses can adapt and be successful and sustainable. There were many useful crossovers between LCAG and Liveries generally as well as the professional links that Sasha was able to share. It will be exciting to explore further with Deploy.
