City of London School for Girls publish views on solar farm

The Livery Climate Action Group have been working with many schools over the last few years and this reflects the close links that the City Livery Companies have with education at all levels.  There is a lot for schools to learn from the Livery and maybe more in the opposite direction.

One school right in the heart of the City of London is the City of London School for Girls who exhibited at LCAG’s Conference in October 2024.  The School has created a unique Climate Change Course for their students led by their Director of Sustainability and economist Aman Kanwar.

As part of the course they visited the City Corporation’s solar farm in Dorset and created this newsletter that discusses the economics of solar farms; investment in the national grid; Power Purchase Agreements as a model for finance; getting planning permission and the impact on local flora and fauna. They even tackle the issue of US tariffs and the UK labour market.

Green Shoots Newsletter

This is a masterclass in providing information and hearing from our future generation. CLSG are working on widening the reach of their course to other schools and LCAG want to work alongside them in this endeavour.
