SUMMARY:Globalising Net Zero Aviation: Leveraging The City Of London To Meet Paris
DESCRIPTION:Details and Registration here: https://www.greshamsociety.org/webinar/12240/  \nBackground: The City of London could take a different approach to Europe and the US and enable aviation to lead on its future energy requirements by establishing a Green Aviation Finance centre. The heart of green finance should act as a linchpin to regularise innovative finance that binds together the aviation and energy sectors in a way that creates the necessary global capital flows (north and south) to deliver zero emission energy infrastructure specifically for aviation’s future. It is an opportunity to build on the City’s ability to foster apolitical\, economic relationships in a way that Westminster cannot. \nThe Rt Hon The Lord Mayor\, Alderman Professor Michael Mainelli is pleased to extend an invitation to all to participate in Knowledge Miles: The 695th Lord Mayor’s Lectures\, an online webinar series exploring the connections of the Square Mile and how its knowledge clusters are addressing diverse global challenges.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpeakers: \nDr Wang Shen has more than 10 years of experience in energy technology\, energy transition\, energy-related project finance & project development\, and sustainable finance. Dr Shen was a research geophysicist working at TOTAL Energies and was widely recognized as a leading expert in Full Waveform Inversion\, high performance computing\, and 3D seismic imaging. He has published more than 30 peer-review papers and conference abstracts in the field of energy exploration & production. Dr Shen obtained his attorney license in 2016 and worked at White & Case LLP as a project finance and M&A lawyer. He has in-depth legal experience in LNG\, CCUS\, hydrogen\, and renewable energy related project finance & project development. Since 2019\, Dr Shen was the senior director of catastrophe risk management working at a leading reinsurance company. He has pioneered in applying catastrophe risk management tools to mitigate climate-related risks. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs Chair of the inter-Livery Green Aviation Task Group in the City of London\, Captain Robert Seaman has led on delivering the report on Globalising Net Zero Aviation – leveraging London to meet Paris.  As an airline Captain on the Airbus A320 fleet\, Robert has been sustainability pilot for his airline.  As director of Greentail\, he leads the development of innovative net zero financial solutions for the aviation sector.A previous fourteen-year career as a Head of Policy Advice on National Security matters in the UK Civil Service\, Robert’s portfolio included UNFCCC negotiations\, Geoengineering as well as Climate Change implications for political stability\, food\, water and energy (in)security \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCaptain Paul Heathcote is a career aviator with experience in a wide variety of aviation\, environment and management functions. A current A380 captain who is passionate about the long-term future of aviation. Chairing an Industry Aerospace Technology body and lecturing in sustainable aviation since 2014. Paul also is on an advisory board for mechanical engineering. Paul remains curious about the system-wide practical interaction between technology\, capital and environmental impact.
