SUMMARY:Webinar: Minimising waste
DESCRIPTION:The Furniture Makers’ Company is hosting a webinar that focuses on waste minimisation. \nWaste minimisation is imperative but does zero to landfill mean zero waste?  This webinar will explore what the furnishing industry needs to do in order to achieve greater waste reduction. \nRegister here to register

SUMMARY:Net Zero Initiative Lectures from Prof Myles Allen
DESCRIPTION:Director of the Oxford Net Zero initiative\, Prof Myles Allen is hosting a series of lectures focused on Net Zero. \nProf Allen has published about human and natural influences on the climate\, contributing to climate changes and extreme weather risks. \n  \nHis next lecture within the series is on Tuesday 22nd November surrounding the topic of ‘The Atmospheric Physics Behind Net Zero’. \nBefore net zero\, climate policy was all about the contraction and convergence of emissions between rich and poor to achieve\, leading to “stabilization of greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere” at a safe level. But scientists struggled to establish what that “safe” level was\, making little progress in over a quarter of a century. Prof Allen will explain the physics and probability theory within his lecture and the importance of this when striving for net zero. \n  \nGet a ticket here: The Atmospheric Physics Behind Net zero Tickets

SUMMARY:Be More Green: Innovating to Improve Energy Efficiency Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Be More Green aims to get businesses innovating to decarbonise and become more environmentally sustainable. Following the successful release of the Be More Green toolkit in partnership with CGI\, we will be hosting a series of events to continue the conversation and support businesses on their green innovation journey. \nThey are hosting a member discussion on 28th November at 14:00pm – 16:30pm at Lord’s Cricket Ground. \nThis session will explore:   \n\nWhat is the business case for innovation in energy efficiency?\nWhat are the first steps your business can take to improve efficiency and how can you then go further?\nWhat innovative solutions are already out there? Both small-scale practical solutions and innovations targeted at overarching energy reduction.\nHow can your business start innovating to be more energy efficient?\nWhat incentives and support are available?\nHow can you use data and technology effectively to support energy efficiency?\n\nConfirmed Speakers: \n\nMattie Yeta\, Chief Sustainability Officer\, CGI UK\nAlice Williams\, Vice President\, Strategy and Commercial Excellence\, Schneider Electric UK and Ireland\nLars Fabricus\, Managing Director – SAV Systems & EnergiRaven\n\nAt this panel discussion business leaders will have the opportunity to: \n\nHear about innovative solutions\, case studies and best practice from businesses who are leading the way in this area\nLearn about solutions to common challenges on these issues\nNetwork with other leaders interested in this important topic\n\nThis event will be held in person and will be followed by a networking drinks reception. \nGet a ticket here: CBI Event

SUMMARY:Responsible Offsetting Seminar
DESCRIPTION:Invitation to an online seminar taking place on Tuesday 29th November on the topical subject of Responsible Offsetting. \nThe guest speakers are Gavin Towers\, from the Fueller’s Company and Sam Ramsay. \nThis will be an opportunity to hear of best practices in the controversial field of carbon offsetting. Gavin and Sam will explain the principles of offsetting\, and how the good schemes work in practice\, as well as draw attention to the pitfalls and the less responsible schemes that we may have heard about. \nCan we really absolve our consciences for our emissions simply by paying someone to plant trees\, indefinitely? Or is there far more to offsetting than tree planning? \nIt will be presented in a Livery context and address the real issues faced by Companies as they tackle the issues of Climate Change and help them decide whether responsible offsetting could be part of their approach. \nRegister here
