SUMMARY:WCIT Hybrid Event - "Towards a circular economy in the IT industry"
DESCRIPTION:Join the IT & Climate Change Group at this Hybrid event for an insight into how the IT industry is transitioning from a linear take-make-throw process to a more circular economy that mitigates its impact on the environment and the climate. \nElectronic waste (or e-waste) is the fastest-growing waste stream in the world\, and the UK generates the second-highest amount of e-waste per capita in the world\, at 23.9 kg/person. e-waste contains precious metals and rare earth materials that can be recovered and fed back into the supply chain. However\, many IT assets are now being remanufactured and repurposed for extended life\, providing a valuable source of lower-cost computing for SMEs\, nonprofits\, and charities. \nHow many old technology items like mobile devices\, laptops\, and accessories do you have lying around unused in drawers? \nRegister here

SUMMARY:Online Event: Why should the military care about climate change?
DESCRIPTION:The Livery Climate Action Group are pleased to welcome you to a fascinating seminar by Lt Gen Richard Nugee on the topic of whether climate change is a national security issue and why we and the military should care about climate. \nAfter a full\, operational career in the British Army\, as his final role Richard wrote a Review of Defence’s approach to Climate Change and Sustainability. He has since earned international recognition for bringing the implications of Climate Change and Sustainability to the Defence and National Security sectors. He is now the Non-Executive Director for Climate Change and Net Zero for the Ministry of Defence. He has expanded this policy interest into delivery\, as the Chair\, Director and Advisor of a number of renewable energy and environmental sustainability start-ups. \nAll Liveries have links across the military and\, as part of our further understanding of environmental issues\, it is imperative to see how this vital part of our country’s security and Government are addressing these issues. \nRegister for this free event here
