SUMMARY:Day seminar: The Future of Energy in the UK
DESCRIPTION:Deputy Master\, Kenneth Cupitt in his responsibility as a member of the Education Committee has organised an all-day seminar on the topic “The Future of Energy” at Glaziers’ Hall\, with six speakers comprising business owners and decision makers will share their views on both the provision of energy for the country and what alternative choices may be available for future opportunities. \nInformation shared by the speakers will help business leaders make the right decisions over the next decade and learn what the UK Government\, and the supply industry\, is having to put in place for economic green energy. Topics will include: \n\nNuclear Energy (both Fusion and Fission will be covered and what Rolls Royce are developing with mini reactors for regional generation);\nMaking money from Sources of Energy (Ways of Cutting the Costs of Energy in a Business\, how to store energy in times of plenty for use in times of shortages\, achieving cost cutting by enabling businesses to trade energy);\nRooftop Solar Panels and PV Modules (advantages of using Solar Energy\, reduced Electricity Bill\, Return on Investment\, Renewable Energy\, Environmentally Friendly\, Energy Independence). A photovoltaic system or solar power system is an electric power system designed to supply usable solar power by means of photovoltaics;\nAdding Hydrogen to Supplement Natural Gas (now that trials of the addition of hydrogen to gas have been completed what it will do to benefit us all);\nHydrogen as a Fuel for Delivery Vehicles (there is unlikely to be enough Lithium to power storage batteries in the short term\, but larger vehicles are also likely to be powered by hydrogen to carry the bulky items and for the driving range);\nHeat Pump Technology (the conclusion\, thus far\, is that for heat pumps\, ammonia is thermodynamically the best refrigerant in the field of operation for comfort cooling and is also safer than using Fluorocarbons).
